Rachael Finch and Kris Smith hit the runway at Myer Spring Fashion Lunch

The return of spring racing has been heralded at Flemington today with the annual Myer
Spring Fashion Lunch, capping off an exciting day for the Victoria Racing Club (VRC)
following this morning’s announcement that GRAMMY® Award-winning, record-breaking
global superstar Taylor Swift will perform on Lexus Melbourne Cup Day.
Myer Ambassadors Rachael Finch and Kris Smith walked the runway as part of the Myer
Spring Fashion Lunch, showcasing leading designers including Veronica Beard, Husk,
Sass & Bide, Hansen & Gretel, Rotate, Paper London, Nicola Finetti, MJ Bale, Jack
London, Dom Bagnato and many more
Hosted by Network 10 presenters Gorgi Coghlan and Hamish Macdonald, the sold-out
lunch at Australia’s premier racecourse saw guests treated to a performance from the upand-
coming Owl Eyes, who will return to Flemington on Lexus Melbourne Cup Day to
perform in The Park, the Melbourne Cup Carnival’s number one entertainment, fashion and
food destination.
ARIA Award-winning singer Anthony Callea also dazzled the crowd with a rousing
rendition of Daryl Braithwaite’s The Horses, bringing the room to their feet in what was a
fitting end to first official event on the VRC’s spring calendar. Callea will also be back on
Lexus Melbourne Cup Day, where he will perform the National Anthem in front of over
100,000 racegoers.
Guests were also treated to an indulgent two-course menu from acclaimed chef Ryan
Flaherty from The Club Stand’s Byerley restaurant.
A few lucky guests also won big in the door prize, with prizes including a luxury Girard
Perregaux timepiece from Kennedy, two nights’ accommodation at Sofitel on Collins, Antler
luggage, a Myer Spring Racing wardrobe, a TLC 43” Ultra HD Smart TV, a year’s supply
of Schweppes and Seppelt wine.
The Myer Spring Fashion Lunch is just two days ahead of Flemington’s first Group 1
race day for the season, Sofitel Girls’ Day Out at Flemington on Saturday 14 September.
